Across Africa Foundation is dedicated to solving the complex, inter-related challenges facing Africa. We touch almost every aspect of the African community from buying school supplies and equipment to children, helping the elderly and the orphans and supporting women’s micro-enterprise projects.
Vision
To help the people of Africa solve critical problems and build a better future for their children and communities.
Mission
We are committed to having long-term, measurable impact on people’s lives. We seek to address root causes, and we realize that this requires us to address issues at multiple levels. We are committed to tracing the effects of our support to specific individuals and communities, and we realize that this requires reflecting on, clearly defining, and communicating the nature of the change we desire to achieve.
Partnership
We are open, accessible, and flexible. We are committed to creating honest relationships that permit us to work alongside the organizations that we support. We also seek to increase the awareness and facilitate the involvement of other funders and agencies in the work of improving economic opportunity in Africa.
How We Got Here
Across Africa Foundation started with a concern and an idea. The concern: How to counter negative perceptions of Africa and help foster and promote grassroots development and to promote tourism. The idea: Help small, effective nonprofit organizations working to overcome poverty in Africa by shining a light on their work.
From the concern came the idea for Across Africa foundation, an alliance of charity nonprofit organizations working on the ground in Africa to make a difference in the lives of children, families, and communities.
The challenges facing people from are complex and interrelated. Hence we set out to ensure that our membership included organizations that addressed the full range of development issues, from education, health, agriculture, microfinance, the environment, to wildlife conservation, and others.
